Pet of the Month - February

Meet Riley, our February Pet of the Month! This little guy is a survivor, a cuddle champion, and—of course—a treat enthusiast! At ten years old, Riley is a spirited Silky Terrier here to remind us that no matter where you start, love and perseverance can lead to a happy ending.
Riley’s journey started at a puppy mill in Russia, where life wasn’t exactly easy. Luckily for him (and his family pack), his grandmother found him in Washington state and gave him a second chance. Now, Riley is living his best life, full of love, squeaky toys, and endless walks. This playful guy may be a little cautious around strangers, but once you’re part of his inner circle, you’ve got his whole heart!
Despite the rough start, Riley has more energy than a pack of puppies on a sugar high! He LOVES his squeaky toys and don’t even get him started on walks. He’s the kind of dog who’d happily go for a stroll, rain or shine, just to see the sights and smell the smells.
Riley’s also got some serious snack game. His absolute favorites include Beef Jerky Joint Health Treats, Bully Sticks, and Collagen Braids. His family pack loves that they keep him entertained, happy, and healthy!
Like a superpup, Riley bravely faces life’s challenges. He was diagnosed with a collapsing trachea: a condition that makes it harder for him to breathe and can cause persistent coughing. A collapsing trachea also leaves him more vulnerable to things like bronchitis and pneumonia, something he recently battled with all his might. After a tough fight, Riley’s back to his energetic, tail-wagging self, thanks to the amazing team at Inspirada Animal Hospital.
Riley’s not just a cute face, either - he’s a full-time emotional support animal! His mama battles depression, and Riley is always there to offer comfort and companionship. He’s incredibly tuned into her emotions and gives her the reassurance she needs to keep going, even on the toughest of days.
So here’s to Riley, the little dog with a big heart and an even bigger spirit. He’s overcome so much, and now he’s spreading joy and love to everyone lucky enough to know him. Keep up the tail wags, Riley. We’re all rooting for you! To show our appreciation for Riley, we had an artist create a portrait just for him!
